A Summer to Celebrate at Slatin Group

August 28, 2017

This has been an extraordinary summer for Slatin Group in bringing forward our message of social access and inclusion for people with disabilities. We  celebrated three important firsts, with workshops at The Mark Hotel on Madison Avenue in Manhattan, our first five star property; at the W Hotel South Beach, our first Miami Beach property; and at the W New York Downtown, our first return engagement. In addition, we spoke to HR executives from across the Miami area in a presentation to the Greater Miami and the Beaches Hotel Association in June, and in early August we spoke to the Queens Tourism Council, including executives from the New York Mets and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. In conjunction with the GMBHA, we are working with two other consultants to assist hotels in making sure their web sites are in compliance with WCAG and Federal accessibility guidelines.  Our Elements of Service e-learning program, produced by Slatin Media Group, is being viewed and praised by hospitality executives and educators, and we are confident that it is on path to becoming a standard for the industry.

As welcome as this summer’s showing has been, it is a sign that the real work is still ahead. As  former Slatin Group associate and Paralympian Maggie Redden – now a communications specialist at the National Disability Institute in Washington – says in her recent NDI blog post, “Perseverance Wins the Race.” She’s not wrong.
