Helping clear the air around digital accessibility and website compliance concerns and uncertainty

As concern and uncertainty grow around digital accessibility and website compliance among a broad range of businesses and particularly among hoteliers, we were pleased in September to help clear the air at a seminar conducted by one of New York City’s leading legal firms in hospitality. Ellenoff Grossman & Schole asked us to lead off the discussion at the New York Yacht Club titled “Disability Accessibility for Web Sites and Places of Public Accommodation.”
The amount of information delivered to the 100 or so hotel heavyweights justified the mouthful of a moniker. Along with ESG Partner Jennifer Schmalz, the panel included Jimmy Zuehl, an architect with the Accessibility Services team at United Spinal, and a digital accessibility specialist from Boca-based Elite Strategies.
It was heartening to hear professionals who work on the hotel side urge their clients to make sure their digital footprints are accessible – and to point out that it is the right thing to do, not just the best legal strategy. Thanks to EGS Partner Amanda Fugazy, who I met at Cornell’s 2023 HR & Hospitality Conference last May, for inviting me to present.
