Millennium Hilton UN Plaza Brings in Slatin Group

June 25, 2019

The historic Millennium Hilton UN Plaza across from the United Nations asked us to bring Elements of Service training to their staff in late June, following the 12th Annual Conference of States Parties at the UN.

This annual event brings together people with disabilities and related government and non-government organizations from around the world to examines evolving issues and practices surrounding disability and accessibility at the global, national and local level.

General Manager Stefan Mirevski, who attended one of our workshops, told us that since the hotel had been home to many of the disabled attendees during the conference, the timing was perfect for a post-event debrief and evaluation of how the 276-member staff had served their guests.

Another factor that prompted the assignment for Slatin Group: the hotel’s landmarked Ambassador Grill, designed along with the hotel by the late Kevin Roche, which presents one of a few accessibility challenges facing the hotel as it seeks to fully comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Mirevski and his team felt the increased awareness our training program brings to the service outlook will also assist in design planning. He also suggested that we will be invited back for additional training next spring before the next COSP, and of course we look forward to that.
